RICHARD RODGERS REIMAGINED
Holding My Breath
Written, produced and performed by Kyle, this collection of five songs takes us through the mind of one musician.
Riabko's already 15 year career has included a little bit of everything – songwriting, touring, producing, acting on television and on Broadway, creating an acclaimed off-broadway and West End show – but all of it comes from the same place:
A never-ending love of MUSIC.
After a childhood of honing his musicianship in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, Kyle spent his teen years performing as an opening act for a wide range of artists, including BB King, James Brown, Buddy Guy, Keb Mo, Jason Mraz, and John Mayer, and others. He released a full length album (Before I Speak) of original music on Columbia/Aware Records at the age of 17.
Next, Kyle went on to star on Broadway and in the first national tour of the acclaimed rock musical “Spring Awakening” and subsequently starred on Broadway in the hit revival of “Hair”. He has also appeared as an actor in various film and tv projects.
Most recently, Kyle created and starred in “What's It All About?: Bacharach Reimagined” at New York Theatre Workshop (“Once”, “Rent”, “Peter and the Starcatcher”) and subsequently in London at The Menier Chocolate Factory and The Criterion Theater in the West end, where the show broke box office records. In London, the show was retitled - Close To You: Bacharach Reimagined.
Kyle did the musical arrangements for the show which received the very enthusiastic support of Burt Bacharach, who said “Kyle has done something truly unique with my music. He’s a beautiful singer and one hell of a guitar player.”
In 2017, Kyle released an original EP online, "Holding My Breath". He continues to work on several upcoming projects and is currently performing solo shows around the country.
For booking information, see the Contact section below.
Since 2013, Kyle has been working with Burt Bacharach and his incredible catalogue of music, arranging it in a fresh and unique way. He has created and starred in a theater piece using these arrangements in an evening of non-stop music paired with brilliant visuals and movement, called "Close To You: Bacharach Reimagined". While the show was running in the West End in London, Kyle produced a cast album, which you can listen to below. Lately, Kyle has been performing solo concerts based on the show, in which he takes the audience through his experience working with Burt and, most importantly, through the journey of this rich and indelible collection of songs – one of the greatest in songwriting history.

“A STUNNING NEW MUSICAL. It’s a REVELATION, and it’s FANTASTIC.”
NEW YORK MAGAZINE
"Riabko is the WONDERFULLY APPEALING star. It’s completely SWOON-WORTHY and SUPER-GROOVY.”
“Kyle Riabko, an outrageously talented Canadian-American performer, has taken 30 classic songs by Bacharach and his lyricist Hal David and, through some highly imaginative, tender new arrangements, stripped them down to reveal the narrative of bruising melancholy at their core…Riabko picks out repeating musical echoes across Bacharach’s oeuvre . . . [Bacharach’s songs] blur into each other like some mysterious musical mirage or delirious Bacharach dreamscape.”
Claire Allfree, THE DAILY TELEGRAPH
This artfully staged show brings a fresh vibe and reinvigorates the staged-songbook genre. Heart-throb handsome Kyle Riabko searches out the emotional layers of the songs with impressive precision.”
